This past weekend was filled with drama. Final vacation days were being taken. Test results from medical tests were obtained. (Everyone is healthy and all results were great). Rain and cloudy skies after endless days of sunshine. All this contributed to the drama. With all the drama, I had no time to do much painting or even sketching.
This morning I was looking for inspiration. With all the drama of the weekend, I was looking for some inspiration. Drama comes with stress, but once the drama is over, the stress disappears leaving you feeling deflated. For me it is sometimes difficult to come back and start working either on a new painting or sketch or even continue an existing painting. So I started looking for inspiration.
I started by determining what I was going to do today. I find a plan is an excellent way to start my day. My car is dropped off for service (needs brakes and an oil change). I have planned dinner for tonight. Everyone is off to their various jobs and I finally sat down at my desk thinking about what I was going to do with my day. I am feeling a bit aimless after the drama of the past few days, and finding it hard to focus. However, in searching on google for a quote for a social media post to make, I came across several, but the one that spoke to me today is from St. Francis of Assisi.
"He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands
& his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands & his head &
his heart is an artist." St. Francis of Assisi
Motivation comes from within. If a quote does not inspire you, then, go to Pexels or Unsplash and look at photos for inspiration. Sometimes a good reference photo will inspire you. Find what works for you. Remember an artist works with his hands, his head and his heart.
Until my next blog....
