Watercolor Painting, Watercolor: The Lemon
I use a variety of canvases explained as follows:
Stretched Canvas. This canvas is usually primed cotton stretched over wood. This type of canvas is commonly used but requires a frame that is specially designed for stretched canvas.
Canvas Panel. This is another commonly used canvas by artists. This canvas is primed cotton stretched over a hard surface. This is easily framed in any frame, including frames for photos. The canvas board is thin, no more than 1/8" thick. Remember to remove the glass as acrylic will stick to the glass.
Canvas Sheets. This is another common canvas used by artists. This is primed cotton sheets that is cut to a specific size. It is not stretched over wood but can be mounted to a solid back board or foam core board for framing. This is easily framed in any frame, including frames for photos. Remember to remove the glass as acrylic will stick to the glass.
Paper. This is another common surface used for painting. Any paper used has been specially created to accept the paint used be it watercolor, acrylic or oil or oil pastels. This paper is also acid free and archival. This like canvas sheets is easily framed, using for photo framing. Just remember to remove the glass as oil like acrylic will stick to the glass.
